FAQs - Buying in Brazil
General Questions
Which rig is right for my operation?
It depends on the work.

-
For SPT & DPSH drilling, the compact line (SLP 100E and SLP 160E).
-
For SPT + rotary work, we recommend our mixed rig line (CD 100, CD 200 e CD 400).
-
For environmental investigation, the SAM line, with direct push, solid auger and hollow stem auger (HSA).
-
For rotary drilling for mining, the RDL line.
Do you offer technical support, spare parts and training?
Yes. We offer technical support, spare parts and operator training. For more information, contact our technical team.
Do you sell used rigs or refurbish them?
Can I see the rig before buying?
Commercial Questions
How do I request a quote?
Use the form on the contact page. Tell us your application (SPT, environmental or rotary), the model you see as the best fit, the depths you usually drill and the delivery city and state.
Do you issue an invoice and deliver across Brazil?
Yes, sales are invoiced.
What are the payment and financing options?
Terms are set in the commercial proposal.
What is the delivery time?
It depends on the model and availability. The lead time is stated in the proposal.
How does the warranty work?
The rig comes with a warranty document delivered together with the equipment sales contract.
FAQs - International Purchases
Do you export drill rigs?
Yes. Diamond Drill serves customers worldwide.
How does the purchase process work?
-
You send your application, depths and destination country.
-
We define the model, tooling and initial spare parts.
-
We send a proposal with price, payment terms and delivery term.
-
We build or prepare the rig and run tests.
-
We ship the rig with export documentation.
-
Together with customs brokers, we handle import clearance in your country.
-
We provide commissioning and operator training.
Which delivery terms (Incoterms) do you offer?
The Incoterm is agreed in the proposal.
How does international payment work?
Payment is agreed in the proposal.
Is the rig CE marked?
Yes, our equipment is CE marked.
How do spare parts and support work outside Brazil?
We offer remote and on-site technical support and international shipping of parts.
Do manuals come in my language?
Manuals are available in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
What are the lead time and transport options?
Transport can be by road, sea or air, depending on the country and urgency.
FAQs - Technical Questions
Geotechnical Rigs (SPT & DPSH)
What is the difference between SPT and DPSH?
In SPT, a standard sampler is driven into the soil by hammer blows, and the number of blows (N) indicates soil resistance. In DPSH, a cone tip is driven continuously and blows are counted per penetration interval.
Which models run SPT drilling?
The compact line, with the SLP 100E and the SLP 160E.
Does the rig meet ASTM D1586 or ISO 22476-3?
SPT drilling follows ASTM D1586 or ISO 22476-3 depending on your country demands, and our automated rigs were developed to run the test repeatably.
What changes with the Automatic Hammer?
Automatic actuation standardizes the drop height and blow rate, which reduces variation between operators.
What crew is needed to operate it?
The ideal crew is one operator and one assistant.
Mixed Rigs - Multifunctional (SPT + Rotary)
What is a mixed rig?
It is a machine that runs SPT drilling in soil and also rotary drilling to cross resistant materials and recover cores. The CD line (CD 100, CD 200 and CD 400) combines these functions.
When should I choose a mixed rig?
When the same project needs both SPT and rotary, and you prefer one machine to keeping two rigs.
What are the depth and diameters of each model?
You can check this information on the Mixed Rigs page.
What changes with the Automatic Hammer?
Automatic actuation standardizes the drop height and blow rate, which reduces variation between operators.
Does mixed drilling follow ASTM or ISO standards?
SPT follows ASTM/ISO and rotary drilling follows ASTM/ISO standards.
Environmental Rigs (Direct Push + HSA + Solid Auger)
What is the difference between direct push, hollow stem auger (HSA) and solid auger?
In direct push, the sampler is driven without removing soil, which allows continuous sampling. The hollow stem auger (HSA) keeps the hole open for sampling and monitoring well installation. The solid auger drills quickly in soils that keep the hole stable.
Which method should I choose: direct push, hollow stem auger (HSA) or solid auger?
It depends on the goal and the soil. Direct push for continuous sampling and fast investigation. Hollow stem auger (HSA) when the hole must stay open, for example to install monitoring wells. Solid auger for fast holes in stable soils. Our technical team recommends the method for your project.
Can I collect soil and groundwater samples?
Yes, with the samplers suited to each method. Direct push allows continuous soil sampling.
Does the rig work in hard soils, cobbles or rock?
Methods such as direct push and augering are limited in very resistant materials, cobbles and rock. For those cases, rotary drilling is the alternative.
Rotary Rigs for Mining
What is a rotary rig for?
It drills rock and resistant soils and recovers cores for geological and geotechnical analysis.
Which rotary rig models do you have?
The RDL line, with the RDL 300, RDL 500 and RDL 700 models. For more information, see our Rotary Rigs page.
